Nami is Home!!!

After 20 days, Nami has been caught!!! She is safe and back home with her human parents!
 -------------------------------------------------------------------
Val: Dear shibaholics and their shibas!!! Thank you all so so much for being a part of the operation BringNamiHome! It is a success! Nami is finally home with us after 20 days on the run! She looks quite good and is not even that skinny. She is really tired and fell asleep right away.

She recognized us and jumped on us from behind out of the abandoned house's backyard. All I can remember is that we held onto her really tight and were afraid to let her go even with the harness on.

This happy ending would not have happened without all of you! Thanks for keeping our spirits up and for the great advice, as well as help of all local and not so local shiba friends!

We are forever grateful!

Cathy: Ayumi amd I met up with 2 other friends of Val's............we were walking on one side of the street and all of a sudden, a lady yells out to us.........."There goes your dog!!!"................we chased her into a yard, I called Val, who came running to where we were..............Nami would not come out......Val ran around the block to the other side of the yards..............Nami ran up to her when she called her name!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nami has a Vet visit today and a bath scheduled. We'll keep everyone updated!

Nami Sightings

Two guys chased Nami under the bridge over Belt Parkway last night - she was coming back from the Brighton side to the Sheapshead Bay side. She ran under the bridge and they lost her trail in the tall grass.

Nami went up to Val's parents but then ran away again, she is still eluding capture. Val's parents said she looks healthy and not even too thin. 10pm seems to be her time for a walk over to the Sheapshead Bay side, both sightings from the past 2 days confirmed that.

It is great news that she looks healthy!! Let's catch her tonight!

Here's a map Val put together of Nami's movement:

Another Sighting

Thank you Mali Ki for updating everyone:

We have another possible Nami Sighting today!
Area: Kings highway and McDonald avenue in Brooklyn

"@Valeria_NYC: Update: a lady came up to us as we were postings signs and said she saw Nami. She had a broken leg and was crying but wouldn't let touch her sounded pretty believable...described Nami, no collar...height...during the day time no exact time. not close at all (to where she was lost), but a straight shot from Brighton (Beach), if she traveled that way"

My comments: This is a very busy area and loud because of the near by train. There is a BIG cemetery (Washington) on McDonald\Bay Parkway that might make for a good hiding stop.

Looking on the map - it really doesn't look too far - since Nami has been gone 2 weeks: (if you zoom out from this map, you can see it's a straight shot up from where she was originally lost in Manhatten Beach: Google Map

Find Nami T-Shirts

Just wanted to share these awesome t-shirts Sakura's husis made for the search party last Saturday.

There hasn't been any news but everyone is hoping for another Nami sighting to help narrow down a location for more flyers and searches. Everyone is doing an awesome job and many of the people in the area are aware of Nami. Let's keep up the great work and reunite her!

Search Party

Update May 11th, Friday:
Nami's mom received two phone calls of Nami sightings in the same area today!

"Got a phone call tip, Nami was seen last night running down Corbin Pl from Brighton 11th to Brighton 12th at 10:30pm"

"Just got a second call! Nami has been seen last night at 10-ish on Corbin Pl and Brighton 15th!!! Lady thought she was a fox. She was running really fast through her backyard. This confirms the previous phone call!"

This is such great news! Please join the search party tomorrow if you're in the area and have time! There's a group of people forming to start searching tonight/midnight! Let's bring Nami home in time for Mother's Day!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amanda (with Yoshi & Emi) have set up a Bring Nami Home Search Party via the NYC Shiba Meetup Site: http://groupspaces.com/nycshibameetup/item/293829?msid=1336596580.2505

Taken from the meetup site:

Saturday, May 12th, 2012 at 12pm - 5pm
Location: Shore Boulevard and Ocean Avenue, Brooklyn

As I am sure most of you know a fellow Shiba named Nami has been missing since May 4th.  She slipped out of her collar on a walk and was possibly hit by a car but kept running and is still out there.  We received a lead today and we believe that she is still alive and hiding out in a muddy spot, away from people.

We are trying to do everything possible to help Nami's owner, Valeria, bring Nami home and we hope that you will try to help us too.

We are forming a search party this Saturday at 12pm to look for Nami.  We will meet on the corner of Shore Boulevard and Ocean Avenue in Manhattan Beach Brooklyn.  Address you can use for directions is
Sephardic Temple Torah Israel
710 Shore Boulevard
Brooklyn, NY 11235

More Information: A female red&white Shiba Inu named Nami went missing Friday, May 4th in Brooklyn, around Manhattan Beach. She slipped her collar but does have a microchip.

HomeAgain, all local Vets, and animal control have already been notified. Lost posters have already been hung everywhere and there are posts on Craigslist.

Additional info: She is small and very fast. Her favorite toy is a de-stuffed fox. If you try to chase her, more than likely she'll think it's a game and run from you. Please call if spotted!
